About

Writing and music are the only two things I’ve ever really wanted to do. And as bad as the market for reporting gigs is, the market for beloved rock stars is even worse. Since I’m also a bit of a political junkie, it became obvious that it was what I should write about. George Carlin said that when you’re born you get a ticket to the freak show, and when you’re born in America you get a front row seat. Why not take notes?

I worked on the newspaper in high school writing and doing design work. Remember light tables and waxers? I do. They were awesome. After that I enrolled at Clackamas Community College and joined the student paper, The Clackamas Print. After one term I was promoted to Commentary Editor, and spent three years on the paper staff next as News Editor, and finally as Editor-in-Chief.

After that I transferred to the University of Oregon, and the School of Journalism and Communications. Over the past year I did some work over at the Oregon Commentator as a writer / copy editor, and have gotten a couple stories picked up by national media outlets. I especially dig local politics, and tend to geek out on the mechanics of government, like redistricting and the referendum process.

As a recent graduate of the UO J-school, my  current interests include paying student loans, music and finding a writing job.
